Pernell is a director & production designer who has worked in the film industry in Australia and the UK across multiple areas. She graduated with a Masters of Production Design for Screen at the Victorian College of the Arts.

In 2023 she was awarded the APDG award for Emerging Production Designer for a Screen Production for her work on the short film Small. Pernell production designed her first feature film Strange Creatures, directed by Henry Boffin, which was released late 2024.
Pernell's second short film as director, The Meaningless Daydreams of Augie & Celeste, had it's world premiere at the 2024 Sydney Film Festival where she took home the Rouben Mamoulian Award for Best Director.
The film has since screened both locally and internationally at festivals including Slamdance, Fantastic Fest and Melbourne International Film Festival where the film was awarded the Vicscreen Erwin Rado Award for Best Australian Short Film. She also participated in the MIFF Accelerator Lab as part of the festival. ​​
